Read AI Launches 'Ada': An AI-Powered Assistant Aiming to Transform Email Efficiency

Read AI has introduced an AI-powered email assistant named Ada. The tool, launched on Thursday, is designed to function as a 'digital twin,' handling various tasks such as managing schedules and replying to out-of-office emails. Users can configure Ada by emailing '[email protected]' with the message 'Get me started.' Ada's capabilities include:

  • Responding to scheduling requests by accessing user's calendars without revealing meeting details.
  • Answering questions based on a company's knowledge base, meeting discussions, or public internet resources.
  • Assisting in drafting responses and maintaining privacy unless given permission to share sensitive information.

Justin Farris, VP of Product, notes Ada’s unique approach, which foregoes Model Context Protocols in favor of a knowledge graph derived from meeting and service data for more contextual responses. Over time, Ada is expected to proactively assist, such as prompting follow-up actions after meetings.

CEO David Shim likens the implementation of Ada to training a new employee, emphasizing expanded utility as more services are integrated. While currently functioning via email, Ada will soon extend to platforms like Slack and Teams.

Read AI boasts over 5 million active monthly users, aiming to double this figure. Despite a 60% international user base, revenue is equally divided between U.S. and overseas markets. The company continues to expand its AI tools, bolstered by over $81 million in funding. Comparatively, other firms like Granola and Quill are also enhancing meeting notetaking and task automation capabilities.
