View original source

ByteDance has announced the rollout of its new AI video and audio generation model, Dreamina Seedance 2.0, within its editing platform, CapCut. The model enables creators to generate, edit, and sync video and audio content using prompts, images, or reference videos. Key details of this news include:

  • Rollout Strategy: Initially available to CapCut users in Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, with plans to expand to additional markets. In China, it is available via ByteDance’s Jianying app.
  • Intellectual Property Concerns: The global rollout was delayed due to alleged copyright infringement issues raised by Hollywood, prompting a phased release rather than a global launch.
  • Technology Capabilities: The model works without reference images and can create realistic textures, movement, and lighting, ideal for scenarios like cooking recipes, fitness tutorials, and more.
  • Safety Mechanisms: ByteDance has implemented restrictions preventing the creation of videos from real faces and blocking unauthorized intellectual property use. Additionally, content includes an invisible watermark for rights tracking.
  • Continuous Improvement: ByteDance plans to collaborate with experts and creative communities to enhance the model's capabilities as it's rolled out.
  • Content Length: Allows for the creation of clips up to 15 seconds in six aspect ratios. Commercial Strategy: Available across features in CapCut and with implications for marketing on ByteDance’s platform, Pippit.
