Google Introduces Advanced Generative AI Features for Mapping and Geospatial Apps

View original source

Google has rolled out new generative AI features specifically aimed at enterprise users within its mapping and geospatial applications, announced during Cloud Next in Las Vegas.

  • Maps Imagery Grounding: Allows users to create realistic scenes in Google Street View via generative AI, aiding in visualizing projects like movie sets or construction sites. This feature is accessible through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and can storyboard creative visions with precise imagery.
  • Aerial and Satellite Insights: Enhances data analysis capabilities by enabling users to quickly analyze satellite imagery stored in Google Cloud’s BigQuery, reducing analysis time from weeks to minutes.
  • Earth AI Imagery Models: Introduction of two new AI models tailored for geospatial analysis, capable of identifying specific objects such as bridges and roads, alleviating the need for enterprises to develop and train AI systems independently.

These updates are part of Google’s strategy to strengthen its position in the enterprise geospatial AI sector, with applications ranging from environmental monitoring to disaster response, and have already found partners like Airbus and Boston Children’s Hospital.

The press release claims that these new AI capabilities offer unprecedented opportunities for businesses, data analysts, and urban planners.
