Google Photos announced a new AI-powered feature that creates a digital wardrobe from users' photos of their clothes, inspired by the iconic film "Clueless." The feature, leveraging artificial intelligence, will allow users to:

  • Automatically catalog personal clothing items found in their Google Photos library.
  • Filter items by categories such as tops, bottoms, and jewelry.
  • Mix and match these items to create new outfit ideas.
  • Share outfits with friends or save them to a digital moodboard for various occasions, such as travel or events.
  • Use a virtual try-on feature to preview their creations.

This feature will initially roll out to Android users this summer, with an iOS release to follow later. It will be added under the "Collections" tab in Google Photos, competing with existing apps like Acloset, Combyne, Pureple, Whering, and Alta.

Google's initiative indicates a push towards making personal styling accessible through technology, reflecting ongoing efforts in the fashion industry to harness digital tools for everyday use.
