DoorDash Unveils CLI Tool for AI-Powered Food Ordering

View original source

DoorDash has announced a limited beta launch of a new command-line tool named dd-cli that allows developers to integrate their AI agents with DoorDash's ordering system. This innovative tool enables:

  • Developers to search stores, find deals, and complete checkouts directly from their platforms.
  • Early Access is available to macOS developers in the US and Canada through a waitlist.
  • Agentic Commerce: Representing a shift towards agent-controlled commercial activities, where applications can interact and transact with platforms autonomously.

Andy Fang, DoorDash's co-founder and CTO, shared the announcement on the social media platform, X. The tool humorously contrasts with traditional programming tasks as it automates the relatively straightforward activity of ordering food.

DoorDash is exploring diverse integrations, having already introduced its service via iMessage and developed an AI chatbot called "Ask DoorDash." Furthermore, it integrates with prominent systems like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Claude. The move signifies growing trends in tech innovation, where software can interact seamlessly with commercial service platforms.
