OpenAI Elevates ChatGPT Experience with Unlimited Text Chats and Enhanced Models

OpenAI has announced the removal of limits on text-based chats for all ChatGPT users, as the platform reaches the 1 billion weekly user milestone.
The update is powered by the new GPT-5.6 Luna model, which will be the new default for Free and Go users, replacing the previous GPT-5.5 version.
All users will now have access to a 'Think' button, allowing them to select higher reasoning capacities for complex queries, although limits on files, images, voice, and image generation remain.
Plus and Pro users will benefit from an upgraded GPT-5.6 Sol model specifically designed for quick tasks that require compact and robust responses.
- The updated Sol model will remain the same for Codex and Work users.
- A new thinking slider enables Plus and Pro users to adjust how much thought is put into an answer, dependent on query complexity.
Internal evaluations revealed that, with GPT-5.6 Luna and Sol, factual errors are significantly reduced compared to GPT-5.5-Instant.
Changes will be rolled out imminently, with Plus and Pro updates available today, and others following next week.
